Sunken circle
This large open garden in Culbokie has tremendous views, but suffers strong winds from the Firth. Planting tall trees and shrubs would reduce the effect of the wind, but would break an agreement with the neighbours not to impinge on their view.
Instead, the plan was to construct a paved, walled sunken garden behind an earth bank to enjoy the sun when things get too windy on the decking.
The edges of the garden has been planted with a large number of shrubs and several sections of willow hedge have been established to shield the lawn and sunken garden in the coming years.
