Sunken Square

In the rear garden of this contemporary-styled, new-build house, the owners wished to amend the original design and create a more functional space, whilst working around the existing garden layout.
YourLandscaping's solution was to remove an unusable grassy bulge, and create a paved area with gabion walls and seating.
The old borders contained very little soil, so all the hardcore was removed and back-filled with good soil. The back wall was heightened with a bespoke fence to complement the carport. Wooden planters were built, bolted to the top of the concrete piers, and also filled with soil.
One of the alcoves between the piers allowed the building of a solid garden shed, with the roof topped with Ballachulish slate. YourLandscaping will return in 2014 to undertake the paving work.
